Established in the wake of the Ash Wednesday Bushfires, the South East Disaster Relief Sub Fund supports charitable projects that assist with disaster recovery and help build long-term resilience across the Limestone Coast.

The South East Disaster Relief Sub Fund was originally established following the devastating Ash Wednesday Bushfires in 1983, as a way for the community to respond to crisis with compassion and coordinated support.

In 2017, the Trustees of the original South East Disaster Relief Fund entrusted the remaining funds to the Stand Like Stone Foundation to continue this legacy. The sub fund now supports charitable projects that provide disaster relief in times of need, as well as initiatives that strengthen the region’s ability to prepare for, withstand and recover from future emergencies.

This may include direct support for affected individuals and communities, or funding for education, training and infrastructure that helps disaster-proof the Limestone Coast.

The fund remains open to donations and is managed in perpetuity to ensure that help is available when it’s needed most.
